He says Peters had promised that New Zealand’s Prime Minister and Cabinet Minister would spend considerable time in the Pacific from 2018 and beyond and this visit is part of that promise.

He says Fiji will see many of New Zealand Cabinet over the course of this year.

Curr says he hopes that this will be a reciprocal flow of travel with ministers in Fiji keen to meet their Kiwi counterparts in New Zealand.

The New Zealand High Commissioner says this has to be about more than just turning up, as there is no point telling everyone you have a big tanoa if you did not bring any kava.

Curr says words must be combined with action, delivery and results.

He says 2019 will be an exciting busy year for New Zealand in Fiji.

Meanwhile, on the 6th of February 1840 the Tereaty of Waitangi was signed by over 500 Maori Chief and representative of the British Crown,a nd this marks the beginning of a modern New Zealand.

The President Jioji Konrote, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Cabinet Ministers, senior government officials and members of the diplomatic corp also attended the event.
