Firefighters managed to contain a fire which destroyed a wooden house and spread to a nearby building in Spring Street in Toorak in Suva last night.
The building is also an office space for a company that supplies office furniture, equipment, stationery and educational products.
A car parked near the house when the fire started was also destroyed.
Chief Fire Officer Qionilau Moceitai confirms that people were safely evacuated from the two properties.
The fire spread to the third floor of the nearby building.
