Industrial Safety and Civil Limited donated $12, 000 towards the Kidney Foundation of Fiji today.

Managing Director Amarjit Singh says this is a small gift of life to those that need help as dialysis is a very expensive treatment.

Founder of Kidney Foundation Diwan Chand Maharaj says currently they have close to 60 patients who are going through dialysis and about 46 of these patient are from Fiji.

Maharaj says the youngest patient that they had who was under dialysis was a 7 year old girl who damaged her kidney and she had to go through dialysis for months to allow her kidney to recover.

Maharaj says last year they managed to save about 57 lives and this year till date they saved about 35 lives through dialysis who were in serious conditions in the Intensive Care Unit.

He says dialysis is a very expensive course, and those with kidney failures going through this process have to pay about $230 for each dialysis process. He adds those who are under dialysis have to go through the process every 3 to 4 days.

Since 2012 Kidney Foundation has had 300 patients receiving dialysis.
