Sakoca development to go ahead as planned-Landowner

The Landowner for Sakoca squatter settlement has stressed that their million dollar development project will go ahead despite some residents refusing to vacate the land.

Josaia Droka said these squatters are illegally occupying the land and have not made any arrangements to acquire land.

He adds they will be developing 200 lots worth twenty to twenty nine thousand dollars and people will be given 99 year leases.

According to Droka residents will be required to pay $300 a month as payment for the land as their solicitors will prepare all the legal documents.

He also confirmed that 10% share from each block will given to the Native Land Trust Board.

Residents have raised concern that they are not given any legal notice to vacate the land as the development work has started.

However, Droka said there were many meetings with the residents and they have been informed about the development.
