Flooding in the Rewa Delta areas is expected to be reduced once dredging works is completed by November this year.
However the Lands Resource and Water Management is looking at other options like building a seawall as dredging will only pave the way.
Senior Engineer, Frank Alhambra said the China Railway was able to scoop 1,200,000 cubic meters of sand during the first stage.
He also said dredging is not the only answer to the flood prone areas.
Meanwhile dredging works is done in the Rewa Delta and various machines are used to scoop to deepen the river and waterways.
