About 55 staff of MH Supermarket in Main Street, Nadi Town will be deployed to other locations of MH or other sectors of the group after the supermarket was destroyed in major fire on Monday morning.
There is about eighty to ninety percent damage to the MH supermarket.
In a statement the management of Morris Hedstrom and Carpenters Group stated that the MH Nadi store was one of its top performing stores and the management is devastated to see the fine building destroyed in the fire.
Director Daniel Whippy said MH and the Carpenters Group reported record sales and operating profit for 2012 and have continued to achieve very positive trend for the past four months in 2013.
He confirmed MH is currently negotiating with certain property owners in Nadi town to secure a long term tenancy to setup a supermarket, home maker and other operations as soon as possible.
According to Whippy the building constructed in 1970 by MH has served its valued customers consistently well over the past four decades.
He said the National Fire Authority is still investigating the cause of fire and they have been reliably informed that a preliminary report is expected to be released by this Friday.
