Education Ministry to assist school managements

The Education Ministry will assist the school managements to help them understand the purpose of the school grants next year.

Speaking at the 5th School Management Association of Fiji annual conference at Rishikul Sanatan College today, Minister of Education, Dr. Mahendra Reddy said the Ministry respects managements contribution in running the schools.

But, he said they want to ensure the government grants are utilised for the intended purposes.

He said financial accounts for 128 schools have been audited this year.

Reddy said unfortunately they were not able to audit all schools accounts.

He said the free education grant is given to enhance a student’s learning environment.

Reddy said it is a worry for the Ministry when they find or get evidences that this money was not used appropriately.
