“As players, your goal is to represent our nation in regional and international competitions and to come out winners.”
Those were the words of encouragement by President, Jioji Konrote while accepting the i-Tatau of the Under 20 Men’s rugby team as well as the Under 18 women’s and men’s 7s teams.
He says like any other rugby fan in the country, he has high expectations for the team to do well in Australia.
He says this is a great achievement for Fiji rugby in witnessing youths to have three national rugby teams in different age groups departing our shores to represent Fiji in international and regional sporting events.
The under 18 men’s and women’s 7s teams will be competing in the Oceania Under 18 7s Tournament in Australia on the 21st and 22nd of this month as this will be the qualifying tournament for the 2018 Youth Olympics that will be held in Argentina in October.
Under 20 men’s team will also compete in Australia in the Oceania Under 20 competition from the 27th of this month to the 4th of next month.
President Konrote says this is a very positive development for Fiji rugby.
Under 18 men’s and women’s team are expected to leave tomorrow while the under 20 side will leave Wednesday next week.
