Saint Joseph’s Secondary School Junior girls sprinter and national rep Heleina Young will be a name to remember in the Coca Cola Games this weekend.
During the Suva Zone 2 last month, Young clocked a time of 12.75 seconds in the Junior girls 100 metres and 26.19 seconds in 200 metres.
The current Junior girls record of 100 metres is 12.34 seconds and the 200 metres record is 24.94 seconds.
This was set by Masilina Rakai of Ba Methodist High School in 1993.
Young won two gold medals for Saint Joseph’s last year.
Another athlete that will be expected to be a dominant force for St Joseph’s Secondary School is Kelera Sing.
Sing was a gold medalist last year in the Intermediate girls Long Jump.
She had claimed goal with a jump of 5.19 metres.
Heleina Young and Kelera Sing are part of the Pacific Games Athletics team to Papua New Guinea.
Saint Joseph’s finished in third place last year with 6 gold and 2 silver.
The Coca Cola Games will be held this Friday and Saturday at the ANZ Stadium.
