One of Japan’s brightest young rugby talents, Yoshikazu Fujita, is back in the Japan squad and looking to create history this weekend at the Japan Sevens.
Twelve months ago, Japan was celebrating having qualified for the HSBC Sevens World Series as a core side.
Now the host of the seventh round of the series is currently 15th in the standings heading into their home tournament, a position that if they occupy after round nine in London would see them relegated from the series.
Japan is 15 points behind Portugal but a strong performance at home would make things interesting heading into the final two rounds in Glasgow and London in May.
They will face Samoa, Argentina and France in Pool D.
Fiji will play Wales in it’s first pool match this Saturday at 1pm.
We then take on Hong Kong at 4.18pm Saturday and the final pool match is against England at 8.30pm.
The Cup quarterfinals start at 2.20pm Sunday, the Cup semis kick off at 6.22pm Sunday while the Japan 7s Cup final starts at 9pm Sunday.
