Year 11 student of Gospel High School represents Fiji at the World Deaf Rugby 7s

“I was surprised to be in the team”.

Those were words of Nasoni Dawanawailagi while speaking through an interpreter when he found out he had picked to represent the Fiji Deaf Rugby 7s Team to the World Deaf Rugby 7s in Sydney next week.

The 19-year-old from Naimasimasi village in Tailevu has always wanted to be a rugby player.

The Year 11 student of Gospel High School is sponsored by the Fiji National Sports Commission.

While presenting their i-Tatau this afternoon, President Jioji Konrote congratulated the players for selling their own crops as part of their fundraising.

World Deaf Rugby 7s will start on Sunday to Thursday next week.
