A number of Vodafone Fiji Under 20 soccer players who played in their first FIFA Under 20 World Cup recently are expected to start for the Fiji Under 23 soccer team against Vanuatu today in the Pacific Games.
Iosefo Verevou who scored the memorable goal against the German Under 20 soccer team is highly likely to play at the striker’s position.
Nickel Chand, Kolinio Sivoki, Jale Dreloa, Garish Prasad and Saula Waqa are also expected to be part of the side.
Coach, Carlos Buzzetti says they will take each game at a time and their aim is to first qualify for the semi-finals.
The soccer competition at the Pacific Games will also serve as the Olympic qualifier where the New Zealand Under 23 side will also be competing.
Fiji will play Vanuatu at 4pm today. Fiji’s second match will be against Federated States of Micronesia at 12pm Sunday while in its third match, Fiji will face Tahiti at 4pm next Tuesday.
The opening ceremony of the Pacific Games will take place tomorrow.
