The Highlanders got exactly what they wanted from the final round of Super Rugby to have another match with the Crusaders.
The Highlanders will travel to Christchurch on Saturday night to face the Crusaders in the quarter finals, with the winner going on to play the Chiefs or Stormers in the semifinals.
It was a no‑brainer for Highlanders coach Tony Brown, who maintained last week he'd much rather play the Crusaders at AMI Stadium, the venue of his team's most gut‑wrenching loss this season.
So he turned into a Hurricanes fan for a couple of hours on Saturday night, cheering them on to victory against the previously unbeaten Crusaders in Wellington.
Last weekend the Highlanders rested fullback Ben Smith and halfback Aaron Smith against the Reds, but both are expected to play against the Crusaders while utility back Matt Faddes is also expected to be available.
The Crusaders will host the Highlanders at 7.35pm Saturday.
In other quarters, the Brumbies will take on the Hurricanes at 9.35pm Friday, the Lions will host the Sharks at 12.30am Sunday while the Stormers will host the Chiefs at 3am Sunday.
