Ngani Laumape hopes the target on his back can make space for somebody else in the Hurricanes backline.
One of the stars of the Super Rugby season Laumape is embracing the chance to cut loose in hard and fast conditions in Johannesburg when the Hurricanes play their semi‑final against the Lions.
Laumape looks set to be rejoined by regular midfield partner Vince Aso, who has missed two games with a groin injury.
The pair have scored 14 tries each this season.
Laumape says winning the physical battle with the Lions will be crucial.
The Crusaders will host the Chiefs at 7.35pm this Saturday while the Lions will host the Hurricanes at 12.30am Sunday.
