The Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Association has made it clear that they will not tolerate any brawls or player misconduct at the Powerade Super Deans Rugby Championship semifinals this weekend at the ANZ Stadium.

This was after some Lelean Memorial School Under 18 players confronted the referee after their quarterfinal loss to Cuvu College last week.

The Lelean players surrounded the referee and continue to question his decision where he ruled a knock-on and ended the match.

Cuvu College won the game while some Lelean players ran onto the field and surrounded the referee. The Cuvu players then stepped out of their way to protect the referee and helped him exit the field.

Deans competition Director, Biu Colati says that there was no complaint lodged by the Referees Association but this is a serious issue.

Colati adds that they will make sure that this does not happen again this Saturday.

According to the Deans Rule Books, any player involved in a brawl during or after a match shall be suspended for a minimum of 12 months from the game.

Looking at the Under 18 semifinals, Cuvu College will take on Marist Brothers High School at 2.30pm while RKS will face Ratu Navula College at 4pm.

You can catch the live commentaries of both of these matches on our sister station Viti FM on 92.2FM.
