Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Gareth Baber has admitted that they were not at their best during the Commonwealth Games 7s final against New Zealand yesterday.
Baber says he was pleased with the efforts they have made over the past couple of weeks when they made history in Hong Kong and then reaching the final at the Commonwealth Games.
He adds that just after half‑time, Paula Dranisinukula had a break against New Zealand but the Kiwis had controlled the game from the start.
Baber says in all fairness, New Zealand played an excellent game and deserved to win.
The national side will go again to Singapore next week where they will look to overhaul South Africa at the top of the World Sevens Series standings.
Fiji is currently in second place with 123 points, South Africa is leading with 126 points while New Zealand is in third place with 107 points.
The Singapore 7s will be held next Saturday and Sunday.
