Fiji Airways Drua captain John Stewart says they were a well organised and disciplined team during their comprehensive 41‑5 win over defending title‑holders of the Australian National Rugby Championship, Perth Spirit yesterday.
Stewart says they were talking all week about their defence and credit goes to the players for working hard on it.
He says they spoke at the start of the year, and they do not want to just make up the numbers in the NRC.
The home side were outstanding in defence, not letting Perth Spirit into the game until the 70th minute.
Drua’s Coach, Senirusi Seruvakula says his proud of the players as they executed everything they had talked about.
The Fijian Drua now lead the NRC points table with 15 points while the Perth Spirit are in second place with 10 points and Canberra Vikings is third with 10 points as well.
Drua’s next game is against the Canberra Vikings at 9.30pm next Friday in Canberra.
