When Beauden Barrett ran on the field as the All Blacks' waterboy on Saturday night against the Pumas, he wasn't just carrying bottles.
The All Blacks playmaker was given the night off by coach Steve Hansen but he revealed today he was still involved in the match and what was happening.
He says it was an opportunity to sit back and read the game from a different perspective and then think about what he would do next if he was out there and potentially relay those messages on along with the messages that are coming down from upstairs.
Barrett added that when he wears the No.10 jersey and someone delivers him a message he takes it on without question.
It's not yet known who will take over waterboy duty for the All Blacks' upcoming Test in Wellington against the Springboks on Saturday with Barrett expected to play in the match.
