NSW still trail the ACT Brumbies by four points but have managed to make up a point on their rivals in a battle to top the Australian conference with an eight‑tries‑to‑three victory.
In other matches, the Highlanders thrashed the Force 55-6, the Brumbies defeated the Kings 19-10, the Sharks beat the Sunwolves 38-17, while the Lions thrashed the Bulls 51-14.
The Hurricanes beat the Cheetahs 61-7, the Stormers outclassed the Blues 30-22, while the Crusaders beat the Chiefs 31-24.
The Lions have an easy run home and could end up topping the table. With the current format, the Lions are not scheduled to play any New Zealand team.
After round 13, the Crusaders lead the Super Rugby standings with 54 points, the Lions are second with 51 points while the Stormers are third with 30 points.
The Blues take on the Chiefs at 7.35pm Friday while the Reds play the Force at 9.35pm.
