Petero Veitaqomaki finished first in his 800 metres heat with a time of 1.56.62 seconds at the Pacific Games.
Kameli Sauduadua has finished third in his heat and has managed to qualify for the finals. The final will be tomorrow at 5.10pm
Meanwhile, Pacific Sprint King Banuve Tabakaucoro will begin his defence of the 100 metres title in the next hour when he participates in the 100 metres heats in the Pacific Games.
Tabakaucoro will run in the first 100 metres heat. Tony Lemeki will run in the second heat.
Tabakaucoro won gold in the 100 metres at the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea with a time of 10.55 seconds.
Samoa’s Jeremy Dodson who is one of the favourites for the crown, will be in heat 3.
The 100 metres heats are expected to start around 6.10pm.
