Vatemo Ravouvou is ruled out of the Singapore 7s as Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s coach, Gareth Baber has confirmed to Fijivillage that the star player has been down with a flu all week.
This means Tabadamu playmaker, Teri Tamani will make his debut for Fiji this weekend.
Singapore is the eighth of the 10 stops in the series.
The London and Paris legs are still to come.
South Africa lead the standings with 126 points while Fiji is three points behind.
New Zealand is the only other possible contender for the series, but their 107 points total means a charge for the series title must start in Singapore.
Fiji will take on Japan at 5.36pm this Saturday.
They will then play Russia at 9.02pm Saturday before playing their final pool match against Spain at 12.28am Sunday.
The Cup quarterfinals will begin at 4.30pm Sunday, the semifinals will begin at 8.50pm Sunday while the Cup Final is at 12am Monday.
