Fiji born wing and French star, Virimi Vakatawa has decided to stay in the sevens game after accepting a two year contract with the French Rugby Union.
Despite being approached by a number of top clubs in France, Vakatawa showed his commitment to the French 7s team.
He has been a stand out player on the World Sevens Series circuit, topping the stats for offloads and twice making the dream team.
His decision will see him free to go to the Rio Olympics and help 7s grow in France by becoming an ambassador of the game.
The French Rugby Union will still have the option of drafting him into the national 15s team when the need arises.
Vakatawa will spearhead the French team as they get ready to host the Paris 7s next week.
They are pooled with Argentina, Wales and Canada.
Meanwhile Fiji is pooled with Samoa, Wales and Scotland.
Fiji will take on Scotland in the first pool match of the Paris 7s at 5.44am next Saturday. We take on Wales at 9.14pm next Saturday and our last pool match is against Samoa at 12.47am next Sunday.
