Apolonia Vaivai has set a Pacific Mini Games record in weightlifting in the Women's 75kg weight category with a lift of 95kg in the snatch last night.
Vaivai won three gold medals in the event yesterday.
In the Clean and Jerk she secured the gold with her opening lift of 110Kg.
Her total lift was 215Kg.
This is an improvement from her last lift at the World Championships held in USA in the 69Kg category where she lifted a total of 209Kg.
Vaivai says she now looks forward to going back home and enjoying Christmas with her family while still training.
She will now compete at the Commonwealth Games in April next year.
Maria Liku also winning 2 Silver and 1 Bronze in the Women’s 69 kg weight category yesterday.
Looking at the Pacific Mini Games medal tally, PNG is leading is 11 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. Fiji is second with 6 gold, 4 silver and 14 bronze while New Caledonia is now third with 5 gold and 5 silver.
