Vaivai sets eyes on Rio Olympics

Fiji Weightlifter Apolonia Vaivai who claimed a bronze medal in the 75kg women’s weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games said she has now put her focus on the Rio Olympics.

Vaivai said she has gained a lot of confidence out of the competition.

Vaivai was successful in all her three attempts in the snatch.

Vaivai’s first attempt was at 90kg, her second attempt was at 94kg and her final lift of the snatch weight was 97kg.

During the clean and jerk category, Apolonia was successful in her first lift at 112kg which kept her in 3rd place.

The 23-year-old increased the weight to 115kg but failed to clear it.

This gave Apolonia a total of 209kg leaving her in 3rd place with a bronze medal.
