Apolonia Vaivai has claimed a bronze medal for Fiji in the women’s 75kg weightlifting category at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
23-year-old Vaivai had aimed for a top 10 finish in this category.
Meanwhile, Caroline Puamau qualified for the 50m Backstroke semifinals in the Swimming competition.
Despite finishing 6th in her heat, 34-year-old Puamau managed a time of 30.73s to grab 13th place.
The Men’s 50m Freestyle saw teammates William Clark and Meli Malani pitted against each other in heat six.
Both swimmers also failed to qualify for the next round.
Looking at the medal tally, Australia is still leading with 32 gold, 26 silver and 34 bronze followed by England with 31 gold, 26 silver and 27 bronze.
In third place is Scotland with 13 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze.
