Unwanted All Blacks fullback Israel Dagg remains hopeful that one day he will play his 50th Test, having been left stranded on 49 after his World Cup omission.
The 27-year-old was cut from coach Steve Hansen’s squad for the World Cup, having been a fixture in the side in past seasons.
Along with Wellington back Cory Jane, he was overlooked in favour of newcomers Nehe Milner-Skudder and Waisake Naholo in the 31-man squad.
He was one of those who met with the coaching staff today, having been given a couple of days to get over their initial disappointment that their name was not included in Sunday’s announcement.
Dagg said he hopes his days in black are not over just yet and will keep working hard and hopefully be back again after the World Cup.
