Fiji Airways Men’s 7s captain, Jerry Tuwai is looking forward to a good start in the opening leg of the 2017/2018 World Sevens Series in Dubai next month.
Tuwai and members of the Fiji Men’s and Women’s team presented their i-tatau this morning to the President Jioji Konrote as they prepare for a new season which will also include the Commonwealth Games and World Cup Sevens next year.
Tuwai says being chosen to lead the national team is a privilege which has reminded him of the hardships he had to go through.
Meanwhile coach Gareth Baber believes they have a good squad to win the Dubai and Cape Town 7s.
Baber reveals that they are likely to have two debutants in the team to Dubai which will be named later today.
He also believes many people have doubted the national side after their three losses to Australia in their last three meetings.
Baber says this was part of his players development program and it was not the main team.
The national side will leave for Dubai next week.
The Dubai 7s will be held from the 1st to the 3rd of next month.
Fiji is pooled with Russia, Wales and Australia.
