A 62nd minute try from Fiji Born, Eels winger Semi Radradra was not enough to help Parramatta who lost 18-16 to the Storm in their qualifying final last night.
It was a bruising and at times intense encounter but despite trailing at half‑time, the Storm worked hard to defeat a determined Eels team.
The Storm dominated possession for the opening 25 minutes but the Eels were able to gain the ascendency and capitalise on an error‑ridden first half by the home team.
Eels fullback Will Smith held a superb inside ball from five‑eighth Mitchell Moses to take a 10‑4 lead into the break.
The Eels had opportunities late but the Storm held on to advance to the third week of the finals.
The result means the Storm advance to a preliminary final in a fortnight, while the Eels will take on the winner of tonight’s clash between the Sharks and the Cowboys next weekend in a sudden‑death semi‑final.
In other matches, the Panthers have knocked out the Sea Eagles from finals contention after winning 22-10, while the Roosters defeated the Broncos 24-22.
