Today’s Coke Zero Deans semifinals seem to be an unpredictable clash when the best schools will find out who progresses to the final next week.
The Queen Victoria School Under 18 rugby side will be hoping that captain Jone Driso will be available for selection when they take on Lelean Memorial School in the first semifinal of the Coke Zero Deans today.
Driso also missed out in their 20-14 win over Navuso in the quarterfinals last week after he suffered an injury in the Eastern Zone final against Ratu Kadavulevu School.
If QVS beats Lelean, they will qualify for their fourth consecutive final since 2011.
Meanwhile, Lelean Memorial School Principal Ledua Colati believes that their Under 18 side should not have any excuse for today’s clash against the brigade from Matavatucou.
Colati said they have been failing to reach the final of the Deans since it moved to the Under 18 grade in 2011.
The Lelean side has three players who were part of the schools Under 17 side which toured New Zealand last year.
In the second semifinal, Ratu Kadavulevu School Principal Beniamino Tawake said they will try and avenge their semifinal loss to Ratu Navula College last year.
Ratu Navula College edged RKS last year 13-12 in a nail biting semifinal clash at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
Ratu Navula College Principal Setareki Merekula has challenged his Under 18 players to dig deep if they are to beat RKS today.
Merekula said they were lucky to be awarded the win against John Wesley College as the players did not perform to their full potential.
QVS will take on Lelean Memorial School in the first semifinal at 2.30pm today followed by the RKS and Ratu Navula match at 3.50pm at the ANZ Stadium.
