Now that we finally have the fight boxing fans have craved over the last year or so, there’s much to discuss leading up to the event featuring Gennady “Triple G” Golovkin with 37‑0 and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez who has 49‑1‑1 with 34 KO’s.
Alvarez is regarded and marketed as the biggest star in boxing; the heir apparent to Floyd Mayweather in what Alvarez himself states as the “Canelo era.”
Golovkin is certainly advertised as boxing’s “Boogeyman” and resident “A‑side,” having sold out arenas such as Madison Square Garden in New York and the O2 Arena in London.
Both fighters are set to earn their biggest purse with Canelo Alvarez guaranteed US$15 million and could clear upto US$25 million depending on Pay Per View numbers.
Golovkin on the other hand will also get his biggest career payday and should clear anywhere between US$10 to US$15 million.
The fight is expected to start at 12pm this Sunday.
