Fiji Airways Flying Fijians Head Coach, John McKee has said that the door is open for Fiji Bati, Parramatta Eels and former Fiji 7s player Jarryd Hayne should he want to try out for a spot in the Flying Fijians team in next year’s Rugby World Cup.
McKee’s statement comes after speculations that Hayne is planning to join the Flying Fijians after his contract ends with the Eels this year.
McKee says that he wants to pick the strongest possible team and will look at all Fijian players to work out who are the best players to play at the Rugby World Cup.
Former Crusaders winger Nadolo says Fiji needs someone of Hayne’s stature to make an impression at the sport’s showpiece tournament.
Hayne is contracted to the Eels for the 2018 NRL season but according to Fox Sports, there is a lot of buzz that the 29‑year‑old wants to join Fiji for what would be the latest twist in a remarkable sporting career.
Hayne has already represented Fiji in league and rugby sevens but fell short of his dream of playing at the 2016 Rio Olympics, following his shock switch from the NFL.
