The Fijian Community in Papua New Guinea came out in numbers early this morning to welcome the first batch of Team Fiji who landed at 1am this morning.
The teams that have gone in the first flight include the Under 23 soccer team, swimming, basketball, cricket, sailing, shooting, squash, table tennis, Para table tennis, tennis, triathlon, va’a and weightlifting.
Loud cheers and singing welcomed the team at the Port Moresby Airport which gave them a huge boost ahead of the games as they settled in at the games village.
The Men’s Basketball team will take on Nauru at 3pm tomorrow while the Fiji Under 23 Soccer team will face Vanuatu at 4pm.
The official opening ceremony of the games will be held on Saturday.
