Cowboys forward Jason Taumalolo has rejected the chance to represent New Zealand at the Rugby League World Cup and instead chosen to play for Tonga.
The Daily Telegraph reported that the North Queensland Cowboys forward withdrew from the Kiwis today following decision-based around Kiwis coach David Kidwell not allowing star forwards Jesse Bromwich and Kevin Proctor to play at the World Cup following their disciplinary issues after this year's Anzac test in Canberra in May.
Bromwich stood down as Kiwis captain after he and Proctor were caught with cocaine on the night of New Zealand's 30‑12 defeat to Australia.
Tohu Harris and Kieran Foran have both already been ruled out of the tournament because of injury.
Taumalolo represented Tonga at the last World Cup in England in 2013.
The Kiwis play Tonga in Hamilton on November 11th.
