Fiji born Setareki Tamanivalu has forced his way into the All Blacks training squad ahead of their test against Samoa on Wednesday.
The former Lelean Memorial School student has joined Canterbury utility back Tom Taylor and his fellow Taranaki midfielder Charlie Ngatai in the training squad.
With 17 of the recently named 41-strong squad ruled out of the historic test in Apia due to their involvement in the Super Rugby final between the Hurricanes and Highlanders in Wellington on Saturday, the All Blacks selectors were forced to bring in players who missed original selection.
The All Blacks’ 29-man squad to travel to Samoa is expected to be named on Monday morning, the same day they depart for Apia.
Meanwhile, another Fiji born player Waisake Naholo was named in the initial All Blacks squad.
