The Sunwolves have sent shockwaves through the rugby world after they defeated the Blues 48‑21 at the Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium in Tokyo.
A fired up Sunwolves team proved too strong for the Blues, whose forward pack lacked urgency the whole game and were too predictable and pedestrian with ball in hand.
Starting well, the visitors looked like they could put a very big score on the Sunwolves, shooting out to a 14‑0 lead early on in the fray.
Leading by 21‑14 at the break, a victory to the home side was never really considered until Jerome Kaino was controversially binned in the 58th minute for a high tackle in which the Sunwolves took big advantage of.
It was the Sunwolves first ever win over a New Zealand side, and their second of the season.
It is a disappointing end to the season for the Blues who last month stunned the British and Irish Lions in Auckland.Listen to the latest news on our 5 radio stations Legend FM, Viti FM, Radio Sargam, FM96 and Navtarang.
