Henry Speight will make his debut for 7s for Australia at the Dubai 7s next week.
The Fiji-born wing is one of three players that will be making their debut in Dubai.
Tom Kingston and Stephan van der Walt are the other two debutants.
Speight was initially part of the wider training squad for the Oceania Regional Olympic Qualifier in Auckland last month.
Ed Jenkins will captain the side.
Australia heads to Dubai on the back of some fine form having won the Central Coast Sevens last month and the Oceania Regional Olympic Qualifier in Auckland.
They were runners‑up in Dubai last year after losing to South Africa in the Cup Final.
Australia is pooled with England, Wales and Kenya in the Dubai Sevens.
Meanwhile, Fiji will meet Canada in their first pool match at 6pm next Friday.
They will then take on Japan at 9pm next Friday before facing Argentina at 3.28am next Saturday.
South Africa is the defending champion of the Dubai 7s.
Fiji last won the Dubai Sevens in the 2013-2014 Sevens World Series.
