The South African 7s team has won their third World Sevens Series title after winning the Paris 7s tournament as they outclassed England 24-14 this morning.
It was a dramatic finish for the Blitzboks as the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team gave them breathing space when they lost to England 17-19 in the cup quarter finals.
This loss had turned around Fiji’s quest to win the series and was hoping for other teams to beat South Africa.
Fiji captain Jerry Tuwai says that he is accountable for their loss against England with some poor decision making when they kicked away possession twice in the second half.
The national side then went on to finish in fifth place as they beat USA 28-7.
Fiji finished the series with 180 points in second place while South Africa finished on top with 182 points.
New Zealand settled in third place with 150 points while Australia finished in fourth place with 123 points.
The national side will now head back to Fiji to prepare for the Rugby World Cup 7s which will be held from the 21st to the 23rd of next month in San Francisco.
Meanwhile the Australian Women’s 7s team won the Women’s World Sevens Series while the New Zealand Women’s 7s team won the Paris 7s title.
