Champion Melbourne Storm fullback Billy Slater will retire at the end of the season after 16 years in the NRL.
The 35‑year‑old’s decision ends months of speculation about the Melbourne Storm premiership‑winner’s future.
Slater says for 16 years he has had the pleasure to play in the NRL, however this will be his last as he will be retiring at the end of the season.
He says that he feels very lucky to have the career he has had.
Slater, has won four grand finals in a decorated 313‑game career spanning 16 seasons.
His representative career included 31 Origins and 30 Tests.
