Silver Ferns clung on to edge South Africa in Quad Series

It was far from a vintage showing, but the Silver Ferns have clung on to edge South Africa 51‑46 in the Quad Series and end their five-match losing run.

New Zealand overcame a dogged Proteas side in Johannesburg in a defensive struggle, where both teams struggled with their turnover rate.

The result snapped the Silver Ferns five-match losing streak dating back to October's Constellation Cup against Australia.

New Zealand know tougher battles lie ahead and they will need to be far more accurate when they face Australia in their final Quad Series match in Johannesburg at 10pm Sunday.
