Manu Samoa 7s Head Coach Sir Gordon Tietjens has named his final squad for the opening round of the HSBC World Sevens Series in Dubai and Cape Town.
A member of the Manu Samoa 7s back in 2007 that claimed a victorious win over the Fiji Airways Men’s 7s team in Wellington 7s, Alatasi Tupou, has been appointed to lead the team.
Three new players have made the cut for Dubai including Jacob Whitaker, Darren Anthony Kellet and Murphy Paulo.
The team also features veterans Fautua Otto, Tom Iosefo and Falemiga Selesele.
Tietjens says he will not promise anything but Samoa is on the right path.
Samoa lost to Fiji 7-17 in the Oceania 7s semifinal but are looking more improved compared to their performance last season.
Samoa is in a tough pool with New Zealand, Argentina and USA.
Fiji is pooled with Russia, Wales and Australia.
The Dubai 7s will be held from the 1st to the 3rd of next month.
