Fiji Football Captain Roy Krishna says it’s an honour to be given the Sportsman of the Year Award in Wellington especially at this time as he leaves Wellington.
Krishna who has confirmed his departure from Wellington Phoenix to play with Indian Super League club ATK was nominated alongside Hurricanes and All Blacks halfback TJ Perenara, Storm NRL forward Nelson Asofa‑Solomona and top amateur golfer Daniel Hillier.

After winning the major award last night, Krishna said that Wellington has been his second home as he has spent five years there.
He says as a Wellingtonian, they share the spirit of hard work and perseverance to represent Wellington in the best of their abilities.
Krishna was given the award for his role in helping the Wellington Phoenix return to the A League playoffs for the first time since the 2014/15 season. He finished as the top goal scorer for both the club and the A League with 18 goals in 25 games breaking the previous record of 16.
Krishna also capped of a career best season by winning the Johnny Warren medal, the honour for the competition’s best player.
