Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan believes that veteran player Nasoni Roko will bring more flexibility into the team and he still has the qualities to compete against the world’s best seven’s players.
The 35-year-old who used to be described by international rugby commentators as the man with the flying red boots for his speed, caught the attention of Ryan while featuring for the Naitasiri team in the Skipper Cup competition and the Farebrother Challenge early this year.
Ryan said Roko has proven himself in training and he has shown consistency with his performance.
Roko is currently Fiji’s overall top try scorer in the HSBC Sevens World Series with 123 tries and he last represented the country at the 2005 Rugby World Cup.
Meanwhile, The Vodafone Fiji 7s team will take on France in their first pool match at 6.44pm next Friday and will later meet Brazil at 9.44pm.
Their last pool match is against Argentina at 1.52am Sunday.
The cup quarter finals start at 8pm Saturday, the cup semifinals are at 1.55am Sunday while the cup final kicks off at 3.42am.
