The Rewa soccer team retained their Vodafone Fiji FACT title after they beat Labasa 5-3 in penalties in front of almost 9000 fans at Ratu Cakobau Park.
Both teams were locked nil all at full time and at the end of extra time.
Rewa goalkeeper, Manasa Waqavou saved Labasa striker Christopher Wasasala’s penalty while defender Josateki Tamudu scored the winning goal for Rewa.
Rewa’s other penalties were scored by Lorima Dau, Setareki Hughes, Amani Makoe and Savenaca Baledrokadroka.
The match was played at a very fast pace as both teams tried their best to get a winner.
Labasa dominated the first half as they had more ball possession and created some good goal scoring chances but failed.
Rewa re-gained their composure in the second half and they also created a couple of goal scoring chances but failed.
Rewa coach, Marika Rodu who is on crutches due to a fracture in his leg made his way to the Rewa reserve bench from the grandstand when the extra time started.
Rodu says he felt the players were beginning to get tired after full time.
The Delta Tigers goalkeeper, Manasa Waqavou says this win is for the fans and his family and he also paid tribute to Rodu.
Rewa won $15,000 as prize money.
Meanwhile Ba and Lautoka played out a 1-all draw in their Vodafone Premier League Match.
