There is no doubt the Roosters wanted to beat Johnathan Thurston and his Cowboys last night in round 21 of NRL.
But once the 26‑20 result was out, there was nothing but admiration and respect as skipper Boyd Cordner presented the retiring Cowboys legend with the match ball, and the team formed a guard of honour as he walked off Allianz Stadium for the final time.

A touching tradition has developed each time a team plays Thurston for the final time this season, the club presents him with a token of their respect, and he graciously accepts as the humble champion he is.
Meanwhile, the Sea Eagles are currently leading the Sharks 20-12.
The Panthers will play the Raiders at 6.10 this afternoon.
In other results, the Bulldogs beat the Broncos 36‑22, the West Tigers outclassed the Knights 25-16 while the Rabbitohs beat the Storm 30‑20.
The Warriors defeated the Dragons 18-12, Eels beat the Titans 28‑12 while the Roosters edged the Cowboys 26‑20.
