A record crowd witnessed the Courts IDC final between Ba and Lautoka at Churchill Park yesterday afternoon which Lautoka won 5-4.
Fiji Football Association’s CEO, Mohammed Yusuf says close to 11,000 soccer fans went through the gates at Churchill Park and over 100 people missed out as the tickets had finished.
He says around 8,000 people watched the pool games on Day 1 and the numbers dropped to between 3,000 to 5,000 for the rest of the days.
Meanwhile, a major celebration will soon take place in Lautoka to celebrate the Blues 17th IDC win.
The team received $22,000 prizemoney and also received $18,000 after winning the Vodafone Premier League this year.
Lautoka Soccer Team’s President, Abdul Kadir says they are working with sponsors to top up the $40,000 prize money from winning the two titles.
He says the full amount will be shared amongst their 22 players.
Kadir has also confirmed that they will continue paying allowances to Epeli Rokotuva who broke his leg in the semi-final against Rewa. Rokotuva will not be in action for the next eight months.
