A record 9,500 fans watched the Vodafone Fiji FACT final between Rewa and Labasa at Ratu Cakobau Park yesterday.
The Acting President of the Fiji Football Association, Yogeshwar Singh says they can confidently say that this was the biggest crowd to watch a single game at district level in Fiji.
Singh says there have been tournaments in the past where over 9,000 fans have come to the grounds on a single day, but it was not for just one match.
A number of soccer fans also stood on the opposite ends of the ground and watched the final for three hours straight as they could not find space on the stands.
The next major soccer tournament is Inkk Mobile BOG and the group matches will be played at Churchill Park from the 20th to the 22nd of next month.
Meanwhile, Lautoka will travel to the Northern Division this weekend and will face Fiji FACT runners up Labasa in the Vodafone Premier League. The match will kick off at 1.30pm on Saturday at Subrail Park.
