Fiji men’s 100 metres sprinters Vilisoni Rarasea, Aaron Powell and Albert Miller Junior have qualified for the 100 metres semifinals after their heats yesterday.
Rarasea won his heat with a time of 11.02 seconds, Powell finished second with a time of 11.13 seconds while Albert Miller Junior came third in his heat with a time of 11.53 seconds.
Jeremy Dodson from Samoa is the favorite to win 100 metres final after clocking the fastest time in the heats with a time of 10.02 seconds.
The other athletes who are expected to provide tough competition are Australia’s Jonty Flottmann who clocked 10.10 seconds and Papua New Guinea runners Nazmie Lee Marai with a time of 10.69 seconds and Wesley Logorava who clocked 10.68 seconds.
The men’s 100 metres semi finals will be held at 4.30pm today while the final will be held at 7.35pm at the ANZ Stadium.
Meanwhile Fiji’s women sprinters Makereta Naulu, Sisilia Seavula and Laisani Moceisawana have all qualified for the final after their 100 metres heats.
Naulu came second in her heat with a time of 12.26 seconds, Seavula finished third with the time of 12.31 seconds while Moceisawana finished second with the time of 12.41 seconds.
The favorite to win the women’s 100 metres final is PNG sensation Toea Wisil who clocked the fastest time of 11.71 seconds.
The women’s final will be held at 7.40 tonight.
