Former All Blacks center Rene Ranger is keen to chase an All Blacks recall but has no regrets about leaving.
29-year-old Ranger left New Zealand in 2013 after signing to play for French club Montpellier.
He was earning around 600,000 NZ dollars a year but he says France is a difficult place to settle in for those who don't speak French.
He played an impressive game for the Blues last week against the Rebels and is looking forward to a big Super Rugby start.
With Ma'a Nonu and Conrad Smith out of the picture, Ranger could soon add to his six tests if he masters the finer points of the midfield alongside George Moala this season, particularly exploiting overlaps.
