The Canberra Raiders have signed Josh Thompson, a rampaging 114kg front‑rower who is also the first cousin of former Parramatta superstar Jarryd Hayne.
18-year-old Thompson was scouted by Raiders recruitment guru Peter Mulholland, who sees the youngster as a special talent.
Mulholland says that Thompson is still young and raw but the ability is there and he is a great kid.
The giant prop is the nephew of Hayne’s father, former Souths centre Manoa Thompson.
Meanwhile, the Eels have also signed in Fiji’s Solomoni Naiduki, a powerhouse winger who they hope could develop into the next Semi Radradra.
Utility-back Naiduki singed a three‑year deal with the Eels.
The 18‑year‑old who prefers playing in the centres is rated one of the best finishers in Fijian schoolboy rugby in recent years and he is expected to learn his craft on the wing with the Eels.
The NRL 2019 Season will begin on the 14th of March.
