The Queen Victoria School Under 18 is aiming for another Deans Trophy win when they take on Ratu Kadavulevu School at ANZ Stadium in the Coke Zero Deans Trophy final tomorrow.
Last weekend the Victorians claimed a victory over Saint John’s College with the courtesy of a last‑minute penalty from center Leweni Mocevakaca.
RKS on the other hand, were given a hard time in the first 20 minutes against Cuvu College before finding their rhythm to clinch a comfortable 23-12 win.
History tells us that QVS first won the Deans Trophy in 1939 and they have won more times that any other school with 22 title and are currently the defending champion.
RKS has won the trophy 20 times, drawn 5 times and holds the record for the longest defence of the Deans Trophy from 1980 to 1985.
RKS again won the Trophy in 2015 after a lapse of 10 years since sharing with Suva Grammar School in 2005.
QVS captain Peni Narube Junior is calling on all their supporters to come out in numbers with blue colors and cheer for them tomorrow.
Meanwhile RKS Technical Advisor Nacanieli Saumi believes this is a battle of bragging rights and see the depth of talents in Secondary School rugby.
The winner will walk away with $5000.
The Under 18 rugby final between RKS and QVS kicks off at 5.30pm tomorrow at the ANZ stadium and you can catch the live commentary on our sister station Viti FM.
